It’s been a while since we’ve been able to be in contact with everyone. We’ve had a lot going on in the past few months.
June: Fred finished up his Aviation Orientation in Waxhaw, N.C. with mountain week and graduation.
July: We moved back to Eureka, IL to spend time with family, friends, and our sending church family.
Fred and I also got to spend a few days away, just us two!
August: We went through our storage unit and prepared for our shipment to Papua New Guinea (PNG) and a very large garage sale.
Fred and his brother Timothy were able to spend a couple days together taking our shipment down to the JAARS campus in Waxhaw, N.C. It will hopefully meet us there in January.
What’s next? At the end of August we plan to move back down to JAARS in N.C. for little more training for Fred and I plan to do some homeschooling with the kids… (Letty mostly.)
Our timeline? We plan to come back to IL for a family wedding at the beginning of November and one more family holiday season before heading to Papua New Guinea in January 2019.
The Lord has given us so many learning opportunities through this process… We are reminded that we are not equipped for what God has called us to do, but He is most certainly equipping us along the way for what we are choosing to follow Him in.
The end of Nehemiah 8:10 says, “… the joy of the LORD is your strength.”
It brings us so much joy to think about serving the other missionaries who are translating the word of God for those who yet need it in a language that touches their hearts!
The picture below is of the Mato people of Papua New Guinea who, on August 14, 2019 will finally get to celebrate having a printed copy of the New Testament in their heart language. That date is special to them because it is the 24 year anniversary of their request for Bible translators to come and make it possible for them to read the word of God for themselves.
These people get to experience that joy from the Lord as well! We too pray for everyone to be able to have that joy of serving the Lord with the mission He has called you to, where ever that may be!
May the Joy of the Lord be your strength as you press on!
In Christ,
Jodi
