The Faith Place

“God You don’t need me
But somehow You want me
Oh, how You love me
Somehow that frees me
To open my hands up
And give You control
I give You control
I’ve had plans
Shattered and broken
Things I have hoped in
Fall through my hands
You have plans
To redeem and restore me
You’re behind and before me
Oh, help me believe”
– Control, Sung by the Praise and Harmony Group

This song has very much resonated with Fred and I lately. We have had some pretty big decisions to make over the last couple of weeks. I guess I’ll start by saying… We are first time Homeowners!

We cannot begin to describe the prayer, talking and seeking wisdom we did on making this decision. We have been so very thankful for every prayer uttered on our behalf especially for this house! But what made this decision even harder was this…

Yes! We have a tie breaker coming in early November! We are all very excited!

We found out about the pregnancy before we put a bid in on this beautiful house! We just had no idea what to do! This wasn’t the first house we have put a bid on and as with the others we had placed it in God’s hands when we sent the bid in.

But the “giving up the control” was what I truly had to do over and over. Partly because I was so early in pregnancy that we had no idea what would happen. And we do plan to come back to the States for the delivery(YAY!)

My Bible study gals and I have been studying Priscilla Shirer’s Armor of God series and one of the things she says about the shield of faith is this, “The Faith Place is stepping into a situation or circumstance where you put yourself into a position for God to have to come through.” Oh, how this hit me and I said it over and over to myself through it all! Giving up that situation that I really had no way to know what the outcome would really be.

But we got the house and to us this is God telling us for now we do have more of future here in PNG. His work through us here is not done yet, even with a ‘bump’ (pun intended) coming that we were not expecting.

The LORD will guide you always; He will satisfy your needs in the sun scorched land and will be like a well-watered garden, like a spring whose waters never fail. – Isaiah 58:11

In their hearts humans plan their course, but the LORD establishes their steps. – 16:9

  5. Our dear Bro Fred & Sis Jodi, Greetings of love to you and your beautiful children. Your kids are growing so much & we’re so excited about the tie breaker! The house is lovely – isn’t it a wonderful comfort? What a blessing from the Lord. We do miss all of you so much, but know you are doing what God has asked. Schools in IL are all closed till 3/30 & all state B.B. tournaments have been canceled (Roanoke-Benson was in the 1A playoffs). Hope you aren’t affected by COV-19 it sounds awful! Our love, Les & Judy
