“Now the whole earth had one language and the same words.”
Genesis 11:1 ESV
As I write this I’m sitting on the third out of four airplane flights from the United States to PNG. As we sat in Singapore airport waiting to board the plane we are now on I had a few thoughts.
I just left the United States where I understood EVERYTHING people were saying because the words were all English. Much like the people of Babel… they all understood one another and spoke one language.
“Come, let us go down and there confuse their language, so that they may not understand one another’s speech.””
Genesis 11:7 ESV
I wonder if this is what it might’ve felt like right after God confused the tongues of man. In the city of Babel. We were now in a place where we were a minority and could understand very few if any conversations going on around us.
Then my thoughts then went to Bible translation here in PNG and how over 800 different languages are spread throughout this country alone.
Things seem to have come full circle in a way…..The people all spoke one language…God decided to confuse their language to stop them from doing everything they purposes to do…. They spread throughout the face of the earth… And now there are Bible translations being done throughout the world to bring the Word of God into the heart language of every nation, tribe and tongue so those people can know this God again who had to confuse their language in the beginning.
Then I think of this verse…
“For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand, that we should walk in them.”
Ephesians 2:10 ESV
Fred and I (and many of you for that matter) get to be apart of those good works that God has made for us to do! What an AWESOME God we serve!
We are so thankful for those who support us along the way!
People who pray!
People who encourage!
People who give financially!
People who send love via packages!
People who advocated for us and share our story with others!
WE TRULY THANK GOD FOR EACH OF YOU WHO HAVE TOUCHED OUR LIVES ABD CONTINUE TO TOUCH OUR LIVES!
You help make this task before us possible by God’s grace!
Much Love,
Jodi
