The Voice of Truth

When I was in eighth grade my little sister and I were attending a private school that our church had started. Every week there would be a different car pool because it was a bit of a drive for some of us to get there.

One of those weeks we were riding with the other family and they had recently gotten the very first CD put out by Casting Crowns. As I listened to the music I became so drawn in by the stories they so easily put to song. They songs impacted me in great ways!

One of those songs was “The Voice of Truth” and the chorus says this…..

But the voice of truth tells me a different story
And the voice of truth says, “Do not be afraid!”
And the voice of truth says, “This is for My glory”
Out of all the voices calling out to me
I will choose to listen and believe the voice of truth

These words are still impacting me today!

There are many voices around me that want to tell me lies and make me believe I am no good. Or not strong enough to live in another culture or be the homeschool mom God has called me to be at this time. But if I choose to listen to the Voice of Truth my days seem so much easier to bear. My attitude seems so much better simply because I choose to listen to truth instead of the lies that want to be louder than anything else.

Then all of this makes me think of my kids….what truth am I choosing to direct them too? What voice am I choosing to teach them to listen to? They are such tender souls and I long to show them how to listen to that Voice of Truth that wants to tell them a different story than what even their own minds want to teach them.

I just love these kids so much!! Then I remember how much more God must love them! I long for them to know the Voice of Truth!
